Category: Product Reviews
A practical review of the NECA TMNT Mirage 40th Anniversary 2-Pack, covering its value, exclusivity, and who should buy it.
Quick answer
The TMNT Mirage 40th Anniversary 2-Pack is a must-have for dedicated Mirage comic fans and NECA vault collectors, but its limited availability and premium price make it a skip for casual buyers.
Why this 2-pack matters
This set celebrates the 40th anniversary of the original Mirage Comics Turtles, offering a faithful recreation of their first appearance. As a NECA Vault item, it's a rare chance to own a piece of TMNT history, but stock is extremely limited.
The trade-off: exclusivity vs. price
At a catalog price of $44.09 (down from $69.99), the 2-pack offers a discount over the original con-exclusive price. However, the limited quantity and NECA Vault drop mean you'll need to act fast and use accelerated checkout. If you miss out, aftermarket prices will likely be higher.
Decision rules
- Are you a Mirage Comics purist?: If the original black-and-white look is your favorite, this 2-pack is essential. It's the most authentic representation of the first Turtles design.
- Do you collect NECA vault exclusives?: Yes: This is a re-release of a sold-out con exclusive, making it a rare second chance. No: Consider standard TMNT releases which are easier to find and cheaper.
- Are you on a tight budget?: At $44.09, it's a good value for what you get, but if you're not deeply invested in the Mirage aesthetic, a standard single figure might be a better use of funds. If budget is a concern, skip this and look at more widely available NECA TMNT figures.
