DuckTales Ultimate Huey Dewey Louie 3-Pack Review: Are They Worth Pre-Ordering?

If you grew up watching the adventures of Scrooge McDuck and his grandnephews, you know that Huey, Dewey, and Louie are more than just supporting characters—they're the heart of DuckTales. Now, NECA has announced an Ultimate 3-pack featuring these iconic triplets, and collectors are buzzing. But is this set worth your hard-earned cash? In this review, we'll break down everything you need to know about the DuckTales Ultimate Huey Dewey Louie 3-Pack, from design and accessories to value for money.

We'll also compare it to other recent NECA releases, like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Archie Comics) - Stump Wrestling Turtles 7” Scale Action Figure 4-Pack and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012 Cartoon) - Footbots 7" Scale Action Figure 2-Pack, to give you a sense of what to expect in terms of quality and articulation. By the end, you'll know exactly whether to add this pre-order to your cart or wait for a future release.

Unboxing the DuckTales Ultimate Trio

The DuckTales Ultimate Huey Dewey Louie 3-Pack comes in a window box that showcases the three figures side by side. Each triplet stands at 7 inches tall, consistent with NECA's other Ultimate figures. The packaging is collector-friendly, with a clean design that features the DuckTales logo and vibrant colors that pop on the shelf.

Inside, you'll find each figure with a variety of accessories. Huey comes with his signature red shirt and a camera, Dewey sports his blue shirt and a baseball cap, and Louie is dressed in green with a magnifying glass. Each figure includes multiple interchangeable hands and faces, allowing you to recreate your favorite moments from the show.

• Window box packaging perfect for display
• Each figure includes 3 interchangeable heads and 5 pairs of hands
• Accessories include camera, cap, magnifying glass, and more

Design and Articulation: A Closer Look

NECA has outdone themselves with the sculpt on these figures. The triplets have distinct facial expressions that capture their personalities—Huey's determined look, Dewey's mischievous grin, and Louie's laid-back attitude. The paint application is crisp, with clean lines and no slop, which is a testament to NECA's quality control.

Articulation is where these figures truly shine. Each triplet features over 30 points of articulation, including double-jointed knees and elbows, ball-jointed hips, and a swivel-hinge torso. This allows for dynamic poses that are perfect for action displays. Whether you want them in a heroic stance or a silly dance, the possibilities are endless.

Accessories and Playability

One of the highlights of any Ultimate figure is the accessory loadout, and this 3-pack does not disappoint. Each triplet comes with a unique accessory that ties back to the show. Huey's camera is detailed with a lens cap and strap, Dewey's cap is removable, and Louie's magnifying glass has a clear lens. These extras add significant play value and display options.

In addition to the individual accessories, the set includes a shared base with a DuckTales-themed backdrop, perfect for creating a mini diorama. This is a nice touch that adds value to the set and makes it stand out from other 3-packs on the market.

Value for Money: Is the Pre-Order Price Justified?

At a retail price of $89.99, the DuckTales Ultimate Huey Dewey Louie 3-Pack breaks down to about $30 per figure. That's competitive with other NECA Ultimate releases, which typically retail for $34.99 each. When you factor in the exclusive base and the high level of detail, the price is reasonable for collectors.

Compared to other NECA sets like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Archie Comics) - Stump Wrestling Turtles 7” Scale Action Figure 4-Pack, which offers four figures for a similar price, the DuckTales set may seem slightly less value-packed. However, the nostalgia factor and the fact that these are the first Ultimate versions of the triplets make them a must-have for DuckTales fans.

Final Verdict: Should You Pre-Order?

If you're a DuckTales fan or a collector of animated series figures, the DuckTales Ultimate Huey Dewey Louie 3-Pack is a no-brainer. The quality is top-notch, the accessories are plentiful, and the nostalgic appeal is off the charts. While the price point might give some pause, the attention to detail and the sheer fun of having all three triplets together make it worth every penny.

Pre-ordering ensures you get this set at the best price and guarantees you won't miss out when it sells out. Given NECA's track record of popular figures selling out quickly, we recommend securing your order as soon as possible. If you're still on the fence, consider that this set is likely to appreciate in value over time, making it a smart investment for collectors.

In summary, the DuckTales Ultimate Huey Dewey Louie 3-Pack is a fantastic addition to any collection.
